Gonzalo Higuain will leave Real Madrid in the summer. The Argentinean striker has been at the club since 2006, scoring 105 goals in 189 La Liga appearances.

However, he is now surplus to requirements and will be offloaded to make way for a new striker at the club.

Done deal?

Reports in the Spanish media today have suggested that Arsenal and Higuain came to an agreement for him to join on a five-year contract, for a fee of around £18.5m. The report, having said the deal is final, then went on to say that he’d join Spurs instead if they finished in the Champions League, and that the deal was dependent on Arsenal’s finishing in fourth position.

So, clear as mud. What we do know is that Arsenal, Spurs and Juventus are interested in Higuain to varying degrees, with Juventus considered the favourites. If Arsenal have come to any agreement it will depend on Champions League qualification, which is very much in the balance right now.

Juventus have the money and the pulling power to attract Higuain, and Italian press have suggested he has agreed to join them as well. Unless he’s planning to play part-time for two sides, one’s got to be wrong.

Smokescreen

For whom? Arsenal’s interest in Stevan Jovetic has also been labelled a smokescreen, possibly for a deal like this. However, it’s more likely Higuain’s agent is leaking details of a deal with Arsenal, in order to get Juventus to prepare a more attractive offer. While I feel Higuain is certainly an attainable player, he may well prefer to play for a side who are aiming high at the Champions League next term.

Higuain’s had a miserable season, and isn’t exactly the ‘complete forward’ many Arsenal fans crave, but he’d lead the line in deadly fashion. I hate to do this to you again, but there have been reports Arsenal want Jovetic...AND another striker...

I’ll leave you with that...

I think Wenger should buy Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid and do a way with the likes of Giroud. I think Higuain knows where the goal posts are erected than Giroud.

I just hope Wenger hasn't loosened the purse strings too late. This will be especially if the gunners miss 4th.I know the german and french strikers are all excellent but they aint clinical.I don't know if it's Arsenal's style or their own inability to finish off moves.
Me thinks it's a combination of both.
As for Moyes,he will be expected to win the epl within at least two seasons . Failure is not an exception maybe with Arsenal. The epl is getting more competitive compared to the late 90s when rf began to dominate.Since Wenger went into slumberland from 2009,rf had a free hand.
That's why when your deadliest enemy becomes cozy, you have to be careful.

Sorry, but you clearly arent up to speed with regards Juve and their finances.
They are relatively skint and even though they were linked with big names, ended up signing free agents as they have done again with llorente.

Oh and suggesting Juve are better placed to go further than Arsenal in Europe? Based on what?

Jovetic is a tremendous player but not a natural goalscorer, so I could certainly see Wenger looking for a Villa/Higuain 25-30 goal a season striker in addition to the Montenegrin.
