Gonzalo Higuain transfer has been one of the main talking points of the window so far but finally seems to be coming to an end.

Juventus Backing Off Higuain

As Arsenal Latest reported Juventus have backed off Higuain, conceding the striker to Arsenal. John Cross of the Mirror claims that Arsenal are aiming to bring the Argentinian striker in before the pre-season tour.

The lack of funds at Juventus could be a major stumbling block for the Italian giants in their pursuit of Higuain, and according to Cross, the leading source of Arsenal news at the Mirror, Jovetic could be heading to Italy, with Higuain making the trip to Arsenal for a fee of around £22 million.

With wages of around £130,000 a week a five year deal matching them wages would be no problem for the Gunners who have a supposed war-chest available to recruit new players.

Higuain Keen On Wenger

The Metro are also speaking about Higuain and his move to Arsenal, claiming the 25 year old has asked his agent to negotiate a deal to Arsenal, despite the interest from Juventus and Atletico Madrid, an unlikely destination due to playing for their local rivals Real Madrid.

The chance of working under Arsene Wenger is a key issue for Higuain and something he is very keen on doing, it seems it could now just be down to Arsenal matching Real Madrid’s valuation and Higuain’s wage demands, which are reported at £150,000 a week.

If Arsene Wenger decides to meet these demands, and he has made it clear Higuain is on his radar, then expect to see the Argentinian leading the front line at the Emirates come next season.

I can't see him playing in our current formation. Can he be focal point of the attack or will he be playing on the left? Or is Wenger trying Massi / Villa formation - Cazorla starting on the left then switching with Higuain and Theo?

As for what's available a proven striker on International class 22m is quite reasonable especially as he's only 25. Wenger needs to just pay the money even if he ends up paying 25. The record signing for the club is 15m apparentlyon Arshavin, putting this Into perspective Newcastle paid 15m for Alan Shearer that was back in 1996. Times moved on I'm not saying Wenger hasn't pulled out some cheap gems in the past but these are few and far between now he needs to be brave and just pay the fee asked for and move on. If It doesn't workout then that's the way It is other clubs have spent far more on players who didn't live up to the fee asked for them. Besides Higuain ain't no Andy Carroll and Madrid are asking 25m not 35 for proven talent not potential. Wenger just do this already.

The transfer fees, clauses, wages and bonuses are secret information. I'm sure none of the media clowns has been present in negotiations, so why these ***s even write about money? As long as the contracts are undisclosed, these clowns are talking and writing lies... people who have blind faith in football "journalism" believe all that *** and make ***ic comments about money. Unfortunately football doesn't have transparency like the NHL hockey where everyone knows the wages, transfer components and contract lengths.

Quoting lbc:
Higuain is not worth the £22 million or the £150,000 a week. I want a striker as bad as every other Gooner out there; however, he is not the answer.

This will end as bad as Bentner and Arshavin did.

higuain's impact on the team will be more than santi corzorla's last season. If you don't think he is the answer then what is your alternative?

lbc; You clearly are an ***.

Wolfgang

When exactly were Arsenal meant to be offering RvP over twice as much as any other player? When he was out injured for 8 months every year?

You are deluded mate. He refused all efforts to sign him up, once his fitness issues had been resloved and then , knowing how much he could get elsewhere. Well over any wages we will end up paying Higuain.

Get a grip indeed.

I know Arsenal will have to break the wage ceiling and transfer record to get Higuain. This is
assuming it takes place. I can't help thinking why the club couldn't offer RVP this type of wages not last last season but a few seasons ago.
Of course then the sponsors hadn't come in. Well if you are successful the sponsors will come looking for you.
I still felt the club could have offered RVP a much better deal three years ago.
