While Arsenal may not have been too busy buying in the transfer market, the annual exodus of players from the club has continued yet again this summer. However, fortunately, so far it is only the fringe players the club are getting off the wage bill.

Djourou choosing Hamburg over Hannover

Having been offered deals at two Bundesliga clubs, Hamburg and Hannover, Johann Djourou it appears has favoured a move to Hamburg, shunning a return to Hannover, where he spent the second half of last season on loan.

Djourou, who impressed during his spell in Germany, was expected to sign for Hannover, who wished to retain his services, however, the club have now stepped aside, paving the way for a move for the defender to Hamburg.

However, while Hannover where interested in buying the 26-year-old Swiss international outright, the deal with Hamburg is for a season-long loan deal, with the option of a permanent transfer available next summer.

While Djourou is hardly an integral part of the Gunners set up, his absence will leave us with only three recognised central defenders for next season, and thus this could spark Wenger into action to buy another centre back, with rumours circulating about his interest in Swansea’s Ashley Williams.

Bendtner undecided on future

With Arsenal looking to offload Bendtner this summer, the club are rumoured to have accepted offers from five clubs, including German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, Bendtner, who suggested he would be at another club by June 24th, has yet to agree personal terms with any of the clubs.

Though with Frankfurt in the Europa League next season this could be a good move for the Danish striker who hasn’t scored at club level in 14 months, after a torrid spell at Juventus last season.

Arshavin re-signs with Zenit

He may no longer be an Arsenal player following his release from the club this summer, but Andrei Arshavin is set to sign for former club Zenit St Petersburg.

The 32 year-old, who failed to live up to his reported £15 million price tag, had been a very peripheral figure for the past couple of seasons, only managing 80 minutes in the Premier League last season. Hopefully a return to his native Russia will reinvigorate his diminishing career.
