... a talented but young one. Arsenal have announced that French youth international Yaya Sanogo has joined the club on a long-term contract.

The striker joins from Auxerre as a free agent and has had a mixed time with the Ligue 2 club.

Last season

He scored nine goals last season but has suffered some serious injury problems over the last few seasons, which have restricted him gaining valuable playing time.

Sanogo has played for his country at numerous levels and is currently representing France in the Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Turkey.

In the three matches he has featured in, he has found the net twice.

Wenger’s view

Arsene Wenger spoke about his signing, saying:

“Sanogo is a good young signing for us.

“He has shown that he has potential with his recent performance for Auxerre and also for the France Under-20 side.

“We are looking forward to Yaya joining us and continuing his promising development.”

Sanogo will join up with his new team-mates once his participation in the Under-20 World Cup is over.

Obvious talent

This is a signing that should excite Arsenal fans because the 20-year-old possess a huge amount of talent, he displayed this last season when he scored four times in one match against Stade Laval.

A week after scoring those four goals he scored a treble against Tours so when he is fit and playing he can get on an incredible role, unfortunately he was injured for a few months after those goal scoring feats,

Injuries

This injury record is a concern. He missed almost all of the 2009-10 season after breaking his leg and missed the majority of the follow season with a torn leg muscle.

Although on a free transfer it is essentially a win win situation for Wenger. If he gets past his injury problems, he could turn into a very good forward, and if he fails to, then someone is bound to pay a couple of million just for his potential.

Arsenal have their first signing of the summer, and I am sure they’ll be plenty more, hopefully the next one is an Argentine superstar.

The issue of building a strong team is hard, but can be done in the space of one season if wenger really mean business in making arsenal a successful team in Europe.Take one season and spend the cash on three quality players and add them with the quality of players in your current squad, all you do every season now is add and drop, maybe one or two players,ok.

lets wait for the french magician talk point and dont act on players who would genuinely help the club but signs his young lads who cannot compete but only manage maintaining champions league position 4
and participate but dont compete

Man no one baggs me like Wenger on earth, once it comes to Football management&coaching. Is a man who points on best &key prayers but ends up fooling up supporters &the entire arsenal club prayers, instead selling best prayers&sneaking up with incompetitive prayer:(Always on calculations like Uganda). That's wenger.

Wenger-You better sign for fit players. Do not relie on injured guys who are on probability of either or not getting better. Are you competing for the cup??

sanogo typical ***e wenger signing.if higuain and a midfielder arent here by august i hope he doesnt sign a new deal and ***s back to france imagine a top quality manager who buys players and not just ones from his own country i wouldnt mind but french football is nothing to be admired anymore neither are its players.
