Ivorian international Gervinho came to Arsenal in 2011 with real promise due to his attacking flair, having just helped Lille to the French double.

Two years later, and after a spell in North London which has hardly set sparks flying, Gervinho looks set to be on his way to Roma for a possible future fee of £7 million.

Reunited

The current coach at Italian outfit Roma is Rudi Garcia, who was Gervinho’s boss at Lille and is keen to be reunited with the attacker.

The deal which Garcia is keen on is an initial loan period, with the Italian side then having the option to buy the Ivorian for £7 million in the future. Though this may seem like a good bit of business, when it is considered that Gervinho is only 26 and we bought him for a rumoured fee of £10.8 million, we are taking a hit for someone who should be in their prime.

Frustrating

Gervinho is obviously a player with talent, however, whenever he played for the Arsenal fans were more often than not left frustrated at his indecisiveness on the pitch, which often lead to attacks breaking down.

In all truth the move to North London hasn’t really worked out for Gervinho, as Wenger has struggled to find his best position, and he is not any better than the players ahead of him in the pecking order.

This, at times, frustrating player may be on his way to Italy, a league where, like France, he may flourish, however, at Arsenal he will sadly always be remembered for the open goal miss against Bradford.

The trouble with Gervinho is that when he had the ball, not only did his team mates not know what he was going to do with it, he didn't know what he was going to do with it. Still good in flashes, but lacked the consistent high level we need at Arsenal

You forgot to mention that he is a confidence player and us supporters vocally slagged him off during games. Part of the blame lies with us as well.
