A well-known presenter for ESPN in Brazil has claimed that Tottenham, Porto and Borussia Dortmund target Bernard is going to join Arsenal.

The 20-year-old has broken through on the international stage this season, gaining 5 caps for Brazil as well as helping Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro to a successful Copa Libertadores campaign.

Battle

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas had expressed an interest in the trickster but opted instead for international teammate Paulinho for £17million. The competition for Bernard has been huge, with Liverpool showing interest in Brazilian starlet.

Overseas interest looked to be favourite though, with Shaktar, Dortmund and Porto all looking to spend. Porto had a bid of £15.5million rejected, staking Mineiro’s intention to not let Bernard go on the cheap.

The price has been set at around £20million however offers in the region of £18million would be hard to ignore.

Intent

Arsenal came out of nowhere to declare their interest in the 5ft 5” attacker, with ESPN Brazil reporter Ale Oliveira quoting simply:

"Bernard is going to join Arsenal." Said Oliveira on Brazilian radio.

Arsenal’s spending intentions have become clear in this transfer window, with numbers being thrown around like dice in the Arsenal camp.

Arsenal are definitely flying the flag of intent at the Emirates, whether or not any of these deals go through or not remains to be seen.

In the midst of all that carnage yesterday, I actually thought Bernard had a great game. He worked hard and showed willing and chased many lost causes, not the least of which was that horrible defence....Congrats to all our great germans.

Would this marquee signing be before or after the fanous "done deal" of Higuain? And the lemmings yet again believe Wenger and Kroenke will spend more than two bob. Next Stan will be buying Tower Bridge and using it to link the Emirate with Finsbury Park station!!

rsenal really want Bernard why doesn't Wenger or Gazidis go and meet the lad and tell him we want him. That was the, David Dein, style. It was how Wenger got Yaya Sanogo, what tipped the balace. Sanogo himself said that after meeting Wenger it what made him decide to sign for Arsenal.Seeing that Bernard could be the most important signing in the long term, he is pure class, why doesn't Arsene get off his Arse and meet ang greet Bernard. Get this kid. This is not a 16 year old juvenile Bernard is in the Neymar class. Arsene wakey, wakey, get off your Arse.
