Exciting news for Arsenal fans – as Latin American journalist Martin Charquero claimed that the North London side were close to sealing a deal brining Luis Suarez to the Emirates.
Charquero is a friend of Suarez, with the Uruguayan giving the journalist exclusive interviews over the past 2 years. Also, he was one of the first to claim Cavani to PSG.
The journalist announced on his Twitter feed earlier on today:
“Luis Suárez se acerca al Arsenal.” Translating to ‘Luis Suarez is close to Arsenal.’
Telegraph’s writer Jeremy Wilson added on Twitter:
“Arsenal are still very much in for Suarez #lfc #afc”.
Second time lucky
Arsenal had an initial bid for Suarez turned down after offering around £30million for the Liverpool striker. The next bid would be nearer the £40million mark, which would make it difficult to stop their top scorer leaving.
Suarez had wanted to leave England altogether, favouring a switch to Spain with Real Madrid. But with the La Liga giants valuating the number 7 at just £25million and failing to table any official offer, Arsenal now look to be the preferred destination.
Suarez recently joined up with the Liverpool squad during their tour of Australia after his extended rest due to the Confederations Cup. Boss Brendan Rodgers fully expects him to be part of the XI that starts their next game in the tour, but negotiation could take priority.
Whether Arsenal are to go ahead with the £40million signing remains to be seen but the deal is decidedly close according to Charquero.

If Suarez is a big aid in securing us silverware... id sign him all day long. Their are plenty of high profile players who bring baggage. Ibrahimavic for one and who also won barca a cl final.
Lol..u must be joking
Have to agree with you .and these Liverpool boys think he's worth 50 million .have a word with yourselfs please
Think you're jumping the gun, mate. £40Mill bid allows you to TALK to the player, that's all. Liverpool don't need to sell, don't want to sell, and would be crackers to sell to a Prem rival.
But he does control whether he can leave or not though, and, in the end, that's all that matters.
That's funny, I, plus a millions of over people, know he's easily worth £50m.
Do you think we will let a world class player (who is better than Cavani) go for anything less than £50m?
he has a value in the same bracket as cavani, those were rodgers words, but also he stated that even if someone matched that value suarz wouldnt be sold. hes not for sale
