Arsenal’s hopes of landing their top summer target have been dealt a massive blow, after Real Madrid announced that they have agreed a deal worth 37 million Euros with Italian side Napoli.

It did appear as though Arsenal had agreed a deal with real Madrid in the region of 28 million Euros for the Argentine forward, but the Italian side have since come in and trumped that bid, meaning the Higuain to Napoli deal looks very much done and dusted.

Higuain favours Arsenal, but Napoli want him more

Gonzalo Higuain had been holding out for a move to the Gunners, as the Arsenal has been his preferred destination after deciding he wants out of Real Madrid. However, talks with Napoli may have changed this.

Napoli have held discussions with the Argentine forward and appear to have convinced him that he should choose them over a move to Arsenal. Perhaps the deciding factor was the reported 6 million Euros a year he will be earning at the Italian side.

Only the signature remains

The only thing holding up this deal is Higuain’s signature, with both clubs already having sorted all the other formalities out.

With this deal all but complete, it looks as though Arsenal have missed out on another player – something we have become accustomed to in recent years.

As Higuain is no longer an option, it appears Wenger will now be turning his attention to signing Liverpool forward Luis Suarez.

I don't think Arsenal would have any hope to sign suarez once higuain is sold, cos hopefully madrid would turn their attention to suarez...and when it comes to spending, we can't compete with madrid.

This Suarez thing is Wenger's PR gimmick, trying to impress fans that he's doing s'thing about failure to win trophies over yester years. I don't see Wenger jumping over the ps55m bar to land Suarez.

Any season ticket holders here?

I say, if we don't sign anybody of note or make a transfer window profit... Again then we all out riot.

1st game after the window we protest, we scream, we shout, we tear up seats, we full out threaten the board.

Its about time those money grabbing ***s woke up and spent some of the millions we give them every year.
The only way is full out anarchy, as so far the disgruntled chants and infighting in the crowd have done nothing to sway them

Guy's it’s not all gloom and doom. This is our first season since Patrick Vieira left Arsenal in 2005 that someone that would play hasn't left the club(i.e a big name).

2005 - Patrick Vieira
2006 - Thierry Henry, Ashley Cole
2007 - Jose Reyes
2008 - Alexander Hleb, Mathieu Flamini
2009 - Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure
2010 – Eduardo(well…)
2011 - Cesc Fábregas, Samir Nasri, Emmanuel Eboué, Gaël Clichy
2012 - Robin Van Persie, Alex Song

Apart from 2010 we have lost players that would be and were in the first team.
In the season that just passed we finished strong and we have the same team so hopefully we start strong too.

Real mardrid will now go all out for Suarez, haven sold Higuain, and with cash available.Arsenal will just remain a big joke with Wenger in charge.Same old story, buy young good players, groom them and sell them big time.its all about getting d cash and feeding d board members fat..

They don't get it on this site. If Gonzalo goes to Napoli then Real will have enough cash to buy Suarez. Arsenal will get no one of significance. AW has this summer to convince the fans he gives a sh*t otherwise he can do one.

I just look at it this way, if we don't get anybody in like a top quality player then we will win nothing and wenger will get sacked

This Suarez story is not going away and is not going to happen. I have more chance of getting a w**k off the Pope than Suarez coming to Arsenal.
The failure to capture Higuain is the biggest mistake AW has ever made and if we don't get Suarez, which we won't, he should be sacked immediately and replaced by somebody competent enough to get this club back where it belongs

Nothing ever changes. Summer after summer of the same crap. We will end up with nobody of any note. No marquee signing. No genuine reinforcement that we've been screaming out for. Just more lies and false promises from our joke of a manager paid 7.5m a year to win nothing. Don't worry though this squad has plenty of "mental strength" and of course Diaby returning will be "like a new signing" same spin. Same bull***. Another year. Change is better than more of the same. In Arsene we rust.

We will end up with some young player nobodies ever heard of and a lot of old fanny about we have tried but couldn't sing anybody. If Wenger doesn't sign anybody he should sling his hook, enough is enough of treating the fans with disrespect.
