Arsenal are currently in good form but I would like to highlight two of the younger players in the squad and talk about their futures. You may be wondering which two players I am on about well here they are Bellerin and Akpom.
Hector Bellerin signed for Arsenal the summer Fabregas went back to his home club and impressed in the reserves on numerous occasions. With one loan spell to his name at Watford it seemed Bellerin may have gone out on loan again however, he was promoted to the first team mainly because Jenkinson went out on loan to West Ham.
Bellerin started in the Champions league against Dortmund away and looked shaky looking like he may need time. This was then added to after a really nervous game against Stoke which saw him replaced at half time. However, since then Bellerin has grown and is looking more assured at right back every game.
Bellerin was one of the impressive players against Manchester City and has filled the void left by Debuchy’s injury hit season. To cap off his performances he scored his first senior goal against Aston Villa with a 20 yard side footed finish. Bellerin has been that impressive it now looks like Debuchy may have a battle to get his spot back in the team. Bellerin has the potential to go all the way to the top.
Akpom may be a surprise choice to be classed as a rising star mainly because he has had limited chances. However, Akpom now seems to be in amongst the first team especially after Podolski, Campbell and Sanogo have all been loaned out. Brighton was the first real game Akpom looked like he may get a chance after stretching the Brighton defence. Akpom tested the keeper in that game and looked like he could become a very good player.
Akpom further enhanced his chances after an impressive 20 minute cameo against Villa. Akpom let the Villa defence know he was in and around them. Akpom had a headed chance saved by the Villa keeper who saved again from a sided footed shot. After these two performances it is clear to see that Akpom has the technique and desire to become a very good striker for Arsenal. Akpom possesses pace and strength which is needed if he is to fit into Arsenal’s system.
However, Akpom only has 6 months left on his deal which means it is of critical importance that Arsenal get Akpom tied down to a new long term deal. Rumours are circulating that City, Chelsea, United and Liverpool are all looking at the centre forward which shows what a talent he is. However, it is believed Akpom wants to play and be at the best place he can develop. With that in mind, Arsenal would be the best place as under Wenger’s guidance he will get chances and develop as a player.
One thing for sure is that the future is bright at Arsenal and hopefully these two players can go from strength to strength and become part of the first team for years to come.
