We have been here before. Another one of our crown jewels is up for a new contract, no need to remind you all of the chaos of Fabregas and Nasri. Here we are again with our very own Robin Van Persie, will he, won't he, be here next season?

Some of the cynics out there might ask, is there a coincidence that RVP has played more games this season then the last 2 seasons and still a third of the season left to play? I, however, have no doubts that he has been managed better.

With the technology they have at Arsenal nowadays is this helping RVP? The investment that has gone into the medical centre has been huge, for example the Anti Gravity treadmill, getting the players running a lot earlier and on to the field more quickly . Robin is doing a fantastic job, doing exactly what he is paid to do…… SCORE GOALS!

But what about the rest of the team?

We all know this season has been plagued with huge injury problems, Why? I really don’t know, bad luck? Bad training? Who knows? There is evidence based on a regular study carried out by UEFA, that we suffer no more injuries than anyone else. This study has been running for years now.

Why our maestro must stay!

RVP has a young family and seems very settled in his surroundings, and rumours suggest he has just bought a new house in London.  Does this seem the type of move for someone thinking of moving to pastures new?

At the beginning of the season reports said that RVP was looking for answers from Arsene Wenger on new signings etc, and yes new faces were brought in at the death. Only time will tell, whether this will appease our prized asset.  Out of the new signings we brought in Jenkinson has been great and still learning. Santos is an accident waiting to happen sometimes, but great going forward. Mertesacker not quick enough or agile but needs more time. Arteta is a great player but still not settled in the team. Benayoun Park, hasn’t really played. Overall not at all bad signings but think we could have done a lot better.

Robin is our captain, he is admired by his teammates and is idolized by the fans. Something money can't buy. However he would be admired in any team! I believe that if we were to make some good signings in the summer, we will be a force to be reckoned with once again. Our RVP cannot carry the whole team, he needs help, not only does he score great goals he is a great passer of the ball too. I think Robin knows that we are nearly there, another good reason to sign a long term contract, but some might say we have been nearly there for far too long?

In Arsene we trust!

Robin has a fantastic relationship with the manager and his role will be key to RVP staying. Also, one might think that Robin owes a lot to his manager, he was brought in by Arsene in 2004 an average player and has matured into this world class player.

There has been a lot of speculation recently that Arsenal are looking to pen a deal with RVP sooner rather than later. Robin is wanting to sort out his contract at the end of the season. I would expect the board and Arsene, would break the bank to keep RVP at the emirates on a new long term deal. It is not always down to money, but the long term ambition of the club, where we finish this season and quality of players brought into the team.

Why would RVP want to go anyway? he plays in the best league in the world by far (however maybe not for the best team yet!!!). It has some of the best facilities in our London Colony training ground, the best Stadium in the league, the best manager (provoking thought) maybe agree to disagree?

We have some of the best potential young talent around him! Wilshere, Oxlade Chamberlain, Coquelin, Frimpong, I would like to think Robin will guide these young players into superstars like himself.

Robin will have been with the Arsenal eight years in May. Only two years to go for a testimonial, a milestone for any player, something to be proud of and unique in modern day football. Here’s to Robin and the long awaited signing of his new contract.
