In an interview with German outlet Bild, Arsenal star Granit Xhaka has explained why he picks up so many bookings.

With the departures of Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini over the summer, Arsenal clearly needed to beef up their midfield lineup and manager Arsene Wenger wasted no time whatsoever in doing so by securing the services of Granit Xhaka.

The Gunners splashed around £35 million in order to acquire Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach and although the 24-year-old has not managed to establish himself as a first choice starter at the middle of the park as of yet, it is clear to see that he possesses the required qualities to become a success at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, midfielder Krystian Bielik has gone on to state that he is ready to make the step up into the first team.

Arsene Wenger certainly has a knack for spotting young talent and many feel that the Frenchman’s £2.7 million acquisition Krystian Bielik will become the next big thing at the Emirates Stadium.

Bielik joined Arsenal from Legia Warsaw in 2015 and the young midfielder has been creating waves for the youth teams since his arrival.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has provided updates regarding the fitness of trio Mathieu Debuchy, Olivier Giroud and Lucas Perez ahead of the Gunners’ clash against Southampton.

Arsenal continued their fine run of form with a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth during the weekend and now the Gunners turn their attention towards the EFL Cup on Wednesday night, where they square off Southampton in a quarter final clash at the Emirates Stadium.

One can be sure that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be keen on his side claiming a victory from the encounter but at the same time, the Frenchman will be tempted to rest a host of his key players on the night – especially with the games coming in thick and fast..

Speaking to the Kicker, German international Serge Gnabry has stated that he made the correct decision by swapping Arsenal for Werder Bremen this summer.

Gnabry was touted to become the next big thing for Arsenal after making his debut for the Gunners as a teenager back in 2012 and it was clear to see that the German attacker had all the skills required in his repertoire to become a success at the Emirates Stadium.

Evidently though, Gnabry was not quite able to fulfill on his promise and the attacker made a move to Werder Bremen this summer for a fee believed to be in the region of around £5 million.

Ex-Arsenal defender Martin Keown has stated that his former side are currently not in the strongest positions in the midfield area.

Arsenal continued their pursuit of the Premier League title with a hard fought 3-1 victory over Bournemouth and although the Gunners were not at their best during the clash, fans would surely have been pleased with the club’s ability to grind out the desired result.

That said, rivals such as Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are all in blistering form at the moment and Arsenal perhaps need to step up their game as well as earn the right result in order to potentially avoid losing crucial points during the upcoming busy festive period.
