Higuain will most likely be playing at the Emirates Cup, but not in the red and white of Arsenal, after passing a medical at Napoli yesterday.

Now the question forming on Gunner’s fans lips is whether latest transfer target Luis Suarez will be playing for the Arsenal at the Emirates Cup?

Is Suarez the better option?

Though Higuain may have now all but joined Napoli, he was well within Arsenal’s grasp. However, Arsenal decided rather than coughing up the cash for the striker to focus their attention on Liverpool forward Suarez.

For me, if we had offered just over £30 million for Higuain we would have signed the player by now, especially since London was his preferred destination. In addition to this, it would also have been a very good bit of business.

Higuain is only 25, and with a record of 106 goals in 188 games for Real Madrid, it is fair to say he would have been a fantastic addition to the side. However, he is unfortunately not a possible transfer option anymore.

So..  Suarez from Liverpool, a player who, when not causing trouble, can be sublime.

Though with Arsenal already having had a £40 million plus bid rejected by Liverpool, it is going to take a lot to bring the striker to North London, and you can’t help that feel Wenger has got it wrong, and should have just coughed up for Higuain.

Fortune favours the brave?

Some may call it brave, while others may call is stupidity. Arsenal had a good chance of buying a striker who wanted to move here, was available for sale and was reasonably priced, but opted for trying to sign the very expensive, currently unavailable and troublesome alternative.

Only time will tell if this option will eventually come off. Liverpool could soften their resolve, especially since reports are suggesting that Suarez wants to join the Gunners, and if this is the case he could prove a most valuable acquisition for the club.

However, with Real Madrid sniffing around the Uruguayan as well, we will have to wait and see if Madrid really are interested or whether Arsenal can pull off a real major signing.
