Higuain will most likely be playing at the Emirates Cup, but not in the red and white of Arsenal, after passing a medical at Napoli yesterday.

Now the question forming on Gunner’s fans lips is whether latest transfer target Luis Suarez will be playing for the Arsenal at the Emirates Cup?

Is Suarez the better option?

Though Higuain may have now all but joined Napoli, he was well within Arsenal’s grasp. However, Arsenal decided rather than coughing up the cash for the striker to focus their attention on Liverpool forward Suarez.

For me, if we had offered just over £30 million for Higuain we would have signed the player by now, especially since London was his preferred destination. In addition to this, it would also have been a very good bit of business.

Higuain is only 25, and with a record of 106 goals in 188 games for Real Madrid, it is fair to say he would have been a fantastic addition to the side. However, he is unfortunately not a possible transfer option anymore.

So..  Suarez from Liverpool, a player who, when not causing trouble, can be sublime.

Though with Arsenal already having had a £40 million plus bid rejected by Liverpool, it is going to take a lot to bring the striker to North London, and you can’t help that feel Wenger has got it wrong, and should have just coughed up for Higuain.

Fortune favours the brave?

Some may call it brave, while others may call is stupidity. Arsenal had a good chance of buying a striker who wanted to move here, was available for sale and was reasonably priced, but opted for trying to sign the very expensive, currently unavailable and troublesome alternative.

Only time will tell if this option will eventually come off. Liverpool could soften their resolve, especially since reports are suggesting that Suarez wants to join the Gunners, and if this is the case he could prove a most valuable acquisition for the club.

However, with Real Madrid sniffing around the Uruguayan as well, we will have to wait and see if Madrid really are interested or whether Arsenal can pull off a real major signing.

I can't actually see Liverpool letting Suarez go to their main rival for fourth. Besides even if Suarez threatens to strike its hardly a major concern for LFC, he's banned for the first month an a half anyway so still couldn't play for either team. It would be like Wilshire threatening a strike when he's out injured, it wouldn't change his availability anyway
i wouldnt class lfc as 4th place contenders pal mid table team they are now

arsene wenger is the one thing standing between arsenal and great success on the football field. arsenal should get rid of him or they will never know what it feels like to win silver. higuain should have been a arsenal player by now but instead he opts to go for troubled player like suares.what a ***

arsenal are not rivals for 4th cause Liverpool have not been 4th in ages. Arsenal want top 3 not 4th place is just last resort Liverpool are getting so far away from arsenal in terms of clubs you cant compare them no more son and suarez knows arsenal have a much brighter future so do one!

Yes it would have been more logical to have bought higuain for £31mil?
Rather than wasting time with suarez,
who I still believe will end up at real madrid.
I hope I am wrong about this but I do feel as if arsenal are just stringing the fans along,
By making big (under) bids with no real intentions to sign class players.

No chance of Arsenal getting Suarez , he will go to Real Madrid which is his preferred destination . Arsenal will be left to fight over Rooney with Chelsea and he will sign for the blues leaving us spurned as normal....enjoy the transfer window
