Luis Suarez is considering handing in a transfer request if his dispute with Liverpool isn’t resolved shortly according to the BBC.

The Uruguayan felt the well publicised offer of just over £40 million should have seen his clause met and he expected a transfer to go through.

As we brought to you earlier, Liverpool insist Arsenal aren’t in the Champions League yet so until the Gunners qualify for the group stages, the Merseyside club won’t accept any offer from Arsene Wenger’s team.

'New' contract clause

When Suarez signed a new contract in August 2012 he wanted a clause that allowed him to depart the club if they failed to qualify for the Champions League and a team bid over £40 million for him.

Liverpool refused but verbally agreed to oblige to those conditions if the terms were met although they would only sell to a club in the Champions League.

Suarez is frustrated with his club for going against their word although from a legal perspective he understands that the Merseyside club haven’t done anything wrong.

Court of Arbitration?

The BBC believes Suarez might take his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport like he did in 2007 when trying to force a move from Groningen to Ajax.

The Court of Arbitration committee ruled against Suarez then but he joined Ajax shortly afterwards anyway.

It seems this whole saga could get incredibly messy from a Liverpool point of view and considering our recent past we know how that feels.

Challenge for titles once more

I would predict that any possible deal will not happen until Arsenal have qualified for the Champions’ League group stages, so we will have to wait a little while yet until we can see Suarez in an Arsenal shirt, if the deal ever happens.

A huge positive though is that he appears to be desperate to move to the Emirates and being an ambitious player he must feel we are assembling a team that can challenge for titles and trophies.

Hopefully if he signs he can help end our draught and bring trophies to the Emirates.
