A livid Arsenal supporter who’s post-match interview went viral on Youtube has received a reply from one of the men he was criticising.

Mirror reporter John Cross came under fire in the fan – named by Cross as Chris Hudson – during his 2 minute rant, describing him as a “media luvvy”.

Hudson was interviewed by ArsenalFanTV after the 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa, a game which tensions seemed to boil over as a depleted squad surrendered a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 against a defiant, young Villa team.

Boos where heard and chants of “spend spend spend” rang out throughout the game, surrounding Arsenal’s lack of movement in the summer transfer window which has seen an incredible 21 players leave the Emirates, including a number of youngsters, to be replaced solely by French U20 striker Yaya Sanogo on a free.

Deals for Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney, Gonzalo Higuain, Cesc Fabregas, Marouane Fellaini, Bernard, Julio Cesar and Luis Gustavo have all either failed or not happened, leading to the fans fury at lack of activity despite a reported £180million in the bank.

Say it how it is

Hudson’s rant highlighted some of these problems, however most of his anger was aimed at Wenger and the Board, before turning on the Mirror writer:

"I've got a message to Tim Payton (spokesman for the Arsenal Supporters' Trust), and John Cross, and all you media luvvies: get off your a**e and start saying it like it is!"

Cross responded with a video of his own, asking Hudson “not to shoot the messenger” and describing how some fans will never be happy with their club’s state.

Cross summed up the rant perfectly with the line:

"It's not down to me that Arsenal haven't spent the money!"

Arsenal fans seem to be siding with Hudson though, with some of the Twitter responses to Cross’ video not exactly hitting the spot with the Gunners:

@charatwit “pathetic response. Evading everything stated.”

@ist05 “john Cross truly is full of himself. #clueless”

@Gooner_AK “Try it with a bit more passion next time John”

@steviedubai “worst comeback than the Spice Girls”

@Matthew Priestley - “It's funny him trying to change his tune on that video saying he was sceptical about Arsenal spending money, yet he's been talking this move up for ages, saying it's going to happen.
He was even talked about on a Liverpool podcast about how he's single-handedly tried to will this move to happen by writing BS about it practically everyday.”

@Fletch Lives – “If John Cross came to my pub and started to tell his stories for his own personal allegiance to Arsenal Football Club, covering up Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gasidas web of spin, I would say Oi Cross NOOOOOO! If you want to write fiction and target people with no brains get yourself to the offices of Eastenders and start writing for them”
