If reports are to be believed then Lukas Podolski could be going through the exit door of the Emirates very soon to join one of Schalke, Wolfsburg or Galatasaray according to the Daily Mail.

German newspaper Bild also back up this story but surprisingly add our rivals Tottenham Hotspur into the equation, although they don’t have any reason to believe we are selling the German international.

They do add that Schalke are keen to take him on loan with Arsenal paying a chunk of his wages. Bild believe that the former Bayern Munich player feels he needs to be playing regularly in a World Cup season and would be interested in joining the Bundesliga club.

Podolski hasn’t started either match so far this season but it would still be a huge surprise if he was to leave before September 2nd, especially to our London rivals.

Ox injury

With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out of action until at least November with a knee injury it wouldn’t be logical for Arsenal or Arsene Wenger to let this deal go through.

Oxlade-Chamberlain started ahead of Podolski in the opening game of the season and the German didn’t start Wednesday’s game against Fenerbahce either.

Santi Cazorla was back in the starting line up but it is predicted that Podolski will be involved this weekend against Fulham.

No chance

I feel there is no chance that Podolski will be leaving the Emirates this season unless Wenger is sure that we will be signing four or five players. If Benzema and di Maria came in then it might seem more likely that the German could leave.

Even then, any injury to Walcott or another winger would again leave us short. It doesn’t make sense at all but then again nothing in this transfer window has.

Hopefully Podolski can get back in the team soon and show Wenger and co what he can do. Last season he was subbed off in almost every game, this year it has got worse for him as he has started on the bench.

It is down to him to show everyone he deserves to be a first team starter and hopefully he can stand up and be counted, because we need him!
