“Look, many players want to join us, because they know. And even more so, all the players who have been here want to come back here.”
Many players want to play for Arsenal, says Arsene Wenger.
But the transfer window lowlights had to be Suarez decision not to force the move and Luis Gustavo transfer to 11th-placed Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in the last few weeks, however the opposing list continues to grow as the trio of Real Madrid players apparently setting their sights on the Premier League look set to stay put.
Clearout
As Real Madrid plot a sensational shake-up, bringing in two of the Premier League’s best players in Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale, midfielders Mesut Ozil and Angel di Maria as well as striker Karim Benzema were said to be surplus to requirements.
In the interest of raising funds for the £150million-odd swoop, the three were said to be allowed to leave the club – with the Premiership being the destination with the most suitors.
Arsenal emerged as frontrunners to sign at least 2 of 3, astonishingly.
Ozil.. Benzema... di Maria.. all no chance?
However it has all gone south since, as last night Ozil tweeted “Hala Madrid. 6 points in 2 Games. That's most important.”
Benzema, who’s position would be under threat from incoming Suarez, is also said to be staying put in Spain after his agent claimed:
"We can not fight against the rumours, but I assure you Karim will not go to Arsenal,".
Di Maria is said to be reluctant to leave Madrid even though his position is most under threat with the introduction of Gareth Bale, yet he is the most likely of the three to join an English club, namely Arsenal.
Real are keen to offload the three however their reluctance to leave could make the deals impossible.
