In what would be the most sensational move of the transfer window, and one of the biggest transfer coups in history, Arsene Wenger is plotting a £70million move for Madrid trio Mesut Ozil, Karim Benzema and Angel di Maria. (according to today’s widespread reports)
Madrid will look to get back part of the £85million they are spending on Gareth Bale in an attempt to balance the financial books this summer, and Arsenal’s entire transfer budget would have to be spent in order to rescue their unsuccessful summer window.
Despite Benzema’s agent supposedly quashing any plans for an Arsenal move and Di Maria reiterating he is happy at the Bernabeu, Arsenal could still go ahead with the audacious swoop in the hope that Madrid’s financial situation will force them out.
Having spent £860million since 2000, Madrid should probably look to make some money at some point.
