Arsenal are set to complete the club record signing of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid on a sensational last day of the transfer window.
Arsene Wenger has well and truly silenced the critics in a way that only the Frenchman can, by signing one of the world’s best midfielders just as it looked as if they would go throughout the whole window without spending a penny.
German talisman Ozil will join for around €50million and will be added to the long list of creative midfielders at the Emirates in what must be one of the League’s most impressive squads.
Wenger will supposedly smash the club’s wage structure to bring him to the Emirates, as Ozil completed his medical while in Germany. He will no doubt be a massive hit Arsenal, playing alongside Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere in midfield and linking the play with Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott up front.
The likely huge wages will be necessary as Ozil snubbed interest from Manchester United, Monaco and PSG to complete the move to Arsenal which is yet to be confirmed by the officials in North London.
Breaking the club’s record transfer fee by nearly £30million, Ozil has been left in the dark at Madrid as new boy Isco played a starring role in their weekend win over Bilbao. The Gunners also have a lot to thank Spurs for, with the signing of Gareth Bale another deciding factor in the deal.
Ozil will go down as the signing of the season should he officially complete his move today, putting Arsenal well and truly on pole for the 4th Champions League spot. The playmaker will likely be an instant success in England.
