After a torturous summer of promises and pleas of patience it appears Arsenal are about to smash their transfer record by completing the signing of Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil. According to Sky Sources the fee is around €50m (£42.5m) and the German is expected to earn around £135k per week. (Source: Sky Sports)
Ozil flew out to meet the German national team in Munich today where he undergone a medical. Reports suggest that an announcement could be made as early as 6.00pm UK time
Reports also suggest that the midfielder has turned down offers from Manchester United, Monaco and PSG in favour of signing for the Gunners.
Chelsea striker offered move across London
Sky Sports are claiming today that Arsenal have made a loan bid for Chelsea striker Demba Ba. Following the high profile arrival of Samuel Eto and with Romelu Lukaku and Fernando Torres back in the picture, it seems unlikely that Ba will get much first team football at Chelsea.
But Arsenal will face stiff competition from a host of clubs for the Chelsea man’s services. Napoli, Valencia, Roma and West Ham are all said to be interested in Ba and sky sources understand that it is Chelsea’s preference that Ba goes abroad or to West Ham on a permanent deal.
Arsenal's interest eases in Di Maria
After weeks of speculation regarding a reported move for Argentine international Angel Di Maria it appears Arsenals interest in the winger has cooled. Despite Sky sources reporting last week that Arsene Wenger was confident in securing a deal, now an agreement is looking increasingly unlikely.
This will come as a disappointment for Arsenal fans who were hoping to see the influential winger playing at the Emirates this season. Suggestions are that interest has dropped due to the seemingly imminent signing of Mesut Ozil along with Arsenal’s reported interest in Demba Ba. (Source: Sky Sports)
