FC Twente right-back Roberto Rosales has been targeted as Arsenal’s new right-back as Bacary Sagna looks set to leave the club.

The Frenchman is said to be looking to substantially improve on his current £60,000-a-week at Arsenal, and the Gunners are yet to offer him a new contract at all. He looks certain to leave the Emirates on a free.

Ro-SALE-s?

One name on the lips of the press at the moment is Twente fullback Roberto Rosales. The 24-year-old has played over 120 times for the Dutch side, and even scored against Spurs in the Champions League of 2011.

He made history by becoming the first player of Venezuelan nationality to register in Europe’s top position and has 41 caps for the South American country making his international debut back in 2007.

Names such as Angel Rangel, Micah Richards and Juanfran have been bandied around as Arsenal look to replace 30-year-old Sagna, who has made the Premier League Team of the Year twice in his time at the Emirates since joining from Auxerre in 2007.

Willing

However with the claims that Arsenal are willing to spend again after the success of the Mesut Ozil deal, Arsene Wenger’s voice is music to the Gunners’ ears:

“It's a big responsibility to spend that amount of money [for Ozil]," he said.

"But I feel comfortable with it because we had the money to do it. Before, we couldn't have done it because we didn't have the money available. It's as simple as that.”

“Now we are in a more comfortable financial position, I – more than anyone – want the great players to play for Arsenal. If we have to spend the money to do that, I will spend the money.”
