In his press conference today, Arsene Wenger hinted that Theo Walcott and Mathieu Flamini, while not ready for this weekend’s tie against Liverpool, could be back for next week’s arguably tougher game against Manchester United.
While Flamini has only been a recent injury, Theo Walcott has missed a good number of games this season, and has missed out on Arsenal retaining their place at the top of the Barclays Premier League.
Have we missed Theo?
Arsenal have continued to flourish without Theo Walcott, with the exemption of the blips against Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.
In the Englishman’s absence, competition in the midfield has gotten even fiercer, with Santi Cazorla now fully fit after a spell of the sidelines injured, so Walcott may not be guaranteed a place in the starting line-up straight away.
However, with no Walcott, Ox or Podolski, Arsenal have at times seemed more narrow, having missed the natural wideman. In addition to this, Walcott’s speed is enough to frighten most full-back’s around the world.
Walcott’s comeback against United could be the perfect game for him. United have looked shaky defensively so far this term, and with Walcott’s speed and ability to cross balls into the middle for Giroud, the United defence could crumble under the pressure.
So fingers crossed he does make it back in time, and with the prospect of an attack of Giroud, Cazorla, Ozil and Walcott, the future does look exciting!
Monaco with huge Walcott bid
Rumour have emerged that French side Monaco, are set to make an audacious bid of £34 million for Arsenal winger Theo Walcott.
The attacker, who only signed a new contract in January, has come onto the clubs radar as they continue their push towards the top of Ligue 1, and look to makes additions to their squad for when they reach next year’s Champions League.
However, with this being so early before the transfer window opens, this could be one story that you take with a pinch of salt.
