As the January transfer window looms closer more rumours come to the surface although the two that have appeared this Wednesday morning seem to have an inch more truth than normal.
Although I regret that I have to inform you we aren’t being linked with possible scoops for Cristiano Ronaldo or Radamel Falcao, at least not yet.
No we are linked with two youngsters.
Kurt Zouma
John Cross of the Daily Mirror believes we have joined the hunt for supremely talented St Etienne defender Kurt Zouma.
Wenger is apparently keen to buy the £12 million-rated defender after trusted scout Gilles Grimandi gave Zouma a glowing reference.
Chelsea and Manchester City have been monitoring his progress though so it won’t be a foregone conclusion.
A sticking point might be the fact that he is suspended until February following a horror tackle that broke an opponents leg.
Mr. Griezmann
The Metro’s Jamie Sanderson also feels we are in for another talented youngster around Europe, Real Sociedad’s Antoine Griezmann.
A club source from the La Liga club told Spanish newspaper Marca:
“We want to keep him as long as possible.
“But we have a battle to convince him to stay – we know clubs are interested in him.”
The La Liga starlight is worth around £20 million and it would represent a surprise if Wenger were to spend that much on another player who isn’t clearly defined as a striker.
However I do expect Griezmann will be among the top priorities for this summer.
