With the January transfer market edging ever closer, the transfer rumours are hotting up and this morning there are several players who are either being linked with us or look to be further away from a possible move to the Emirates than before.

Suarez

Luis Suarez, who we were linked with all summer and also had that bid of £40 million + £1 bid rejected, could be on the verge of signing a new deal with Liverpool

He has been in remarkable form for the Reds and they are set to reward him with a new contract. That would make any move in January or July from us increasingly unlikely and with every passing game it seems we have missed a huge opportunity.

Pastore

There are also stories linking us with Javier Pastore, the PSG attacker, and his sale to either ourselves or Liverpool could see Juan Mata leave Chelsea for the Paris club.

Pastore moved to Ligue 1 in a £40 million deal but has failed to live up to his price tag and should be shifted for a lot less money.

The question does remain though whether we really need another attacking midfielder or if a striker should be our main target.

Casillas

Real Madrid and Spanish keeper Iker Casillas is in ours and Manchester City’s sights should he choose to leave Real Madrid in January.

Casillas could look to move should he continue to be behind Diego Lopez in the pecking order especially as Victor Valdes is putting pressure on his spot in the Spanish national team.

Wojciech Szczesny has been in great form but there is no doubting the Spanish captain’s class.

Calhanoglu

Highly rated Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will not be moving to the Premier League according to reports in the Sun today.

The 19-year-old though is looking at signing a new contract with current club Hamburg and his agent has apparently stated that we aren’t interested in his signature.

He does remain a huge talent though and as he has scored four times and picked up two assists already in 15 Bundesliga games, I am sure we’ll be keeping tabs on him.
