Manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that Mesut Ozil needs a rest, however, that rest will have to wait until after Monday’s clash with neighbours and title contenders Chelsea.
Ozil, who has featured in the majority of games since his club record move in the summer, has at times looked tired and shown signs of fatigue in matches recently, and playing his first season in English football will not help with that.
Normally, at this time of year, Ozil would be looking forward to a winter break, as he had in Germany and then at Real Madrid, but instead he is facing the prospect of a hectic festive period.
Wenger has admitted that “at some stage I will have to give him a break. But Monday night? No.”
Let’s hope that the German can inspire Wenger’s side to a first win over a Mourinho Chelsea.
Mourinho: Ozil is simply unstoppable
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is coming up with a plan to stop Arsenal’s German superstar Mesut Ozil in Monday night’s match. However, he has admitted this task is near impossible.
Mourinho, who managed the German at Real Madrid for 3 years, knows exactly how the German operates, though knows his side face an arduous task in stopping the influential playmaker.
“To stop him completely, I don’t believe we can,” said Mourinho “it’s impossible to stop him for 90 minutes, because these kind of players they will have always a moment or a couple of moments where you cannot stop them and they end up showing why they are so good.”
Hopefully Mourinho is right and Chelsea cannot thwart the German on Monday.
Henry dreams of Arsenal return
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has revealed that he dreams of returning to Arsenal in the future in some sort of role, and has admitted that the thought of managing the club has crossed his mind.
“I don't know [if I'll ever be Arsenal manager]. I'm sure if you asked any Arsenal fan they would love to be the Arsenal manager, but I actually don't know.”
“The dream for me would be to be back at Arsenal. The rest we will see, but the dream would be to be back at Arsenal, obviously.”
Even to have the Frenchman back in a coaching role would be fantastic for the club as Henry is a certified legend, and though the thought of Henry becoming manager seems fantastic, it is still highly unrealistic at the minute.
Henry also added that he believes Arsene Wenger can lead this current crop of Arsenal players to glory and end the long trophy drought the club has endured.
“This year he is showing everybody that Arsenal can compete again."
