Mesut Ozil sat out Arsenal’s trip to Newcastle today due to a shoulder injury but wasn’t neglecting his duties as an Arsenal player as he cheered on his team mates at home.
The German international posted a picture on his Facebook profile of him watching the Gunners at home and was tweeting regularly, although he probably wishes he was playing in their crucial last game of 2013.
Worryingly for Arsenal fans is that Arsene Wenger revealed that Ozil could be out for a couple of games as he spoke to the TV cameras before kick-off.
Wenger specifically said he would be out for “2-3 games” which could rule him out of the New Year’s Day visit of Cardiff City and importantly out of the FA Cup clash against biter rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
January 11th return
If that is the case then our German playmaker wouldn’t return until January 11th where we make the trip to the Midlands to face Aston Villa in the Premier League.
In hindsight though it may be a good thing that Ozil has picked up a small injury because he has looked tired the last few matches and won’t be used to playing over Christmas.
Hopefully the German comes back revitalised and ready to continue our title tilt.
