Borussia Dortmund are targeting talented youngster Serge Gnabry according to reports in Germany today, as they look to sign a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Gnabry wouldn’t be a direct replacement for the Polish forward as he is a winger but Jürgen Klopp recently said: “we are considering different players and different systems.”

English newspapers Daily Mirror and Daily Mail also reported Dortmund’s interest in the 18-year-old, with the latter suggesting that Klopp has had the German midfielder watched over last month.

However, this transfer story, no matter how accurate it may be from Germany, is a non-starter because why in our right mind would we sell the German under-19 prospect.

Especially just a couple of days after he terrorized our north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur with a man of the match display in the third round of the FA Cup.

Gnabry was sensational on Saturday evening and with Theo Walcott out for the rest of the campaign, you suspect the young winger will be given an extended role in the first team.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is coming back to full fitness but the onus could be on Gnabry to stake a claim with some encouraging performances for the rest of January.

What is more likely than the German being allowed to move to Dortmund is him establishing himself in the Arsenal first team, it will certainly happen sooner rather than later.

No matter how hard the Germans try, they will not be prizing away this wonder kid from the Emirates anytime soon.
