Arsenal have been linked with a string of players since it was confirmed that Theo Walcott would be out for the rest of the season and three more were lined up as possible January additions to Arsène Wenger’s squad today.
A striker and a winger have been the two positions most people have stated we need to reinforce if we are to keep up our title challenge and assault on Europe.
Versatile Juve player joining the ranks
Two sources suggest we are in for Juventus attacker Sebastian Giovinco, who would be perfect cover for Walcott on the wing. The Metro insist Wenger is keen on the Italian who is out-of-favour.
Reports in Turin suggests a loan bid could come in from the Gunners for the 26-year-old who can play various positions.
Another source to add to this rumour is famous journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who has become a cult favourite on Twitter. The Italian has been fairly accurate with his transfer talk, although has made the odd mishap before.
Di Marzio believes Arsenal contacted Giovinco’s agent on Thursday and an offer from Arsenal is imminent.
Roma forward, no not Gervinho!
Another Italian we are interested in is Roma forward Mattia Destro, this is according to the Metro as well.
They report that Italian sports programme Rai TV claimed Roma are trying to fend off interest from the Gunners for the 22-year-old.
A loan move is seen as the most likely option should this deal go ahead as Destro has found himself out of favour at times this season. His quality is not in question though.
Michy Batshuayi…
Another player we are linked with is Standard Liege forward Michy Batshuayi, that is according to a statement issued by the players agent.
The Daily Mail quote Christophe Henrotay, who says: “There are Premier League clubs that are following him closely, but that’s all. The interest from other big leagues is more serious.
“I’m still surprised by the way Standard communicates about Michy. The situation is very simple: if a club triggers his release clause, he can start negotiating with a club. I’ve the mandate to negotiate a transfer.”
Strong words from the players agent, whilst ourselves, Everton and Borussia Dortmund have all been linked with Batshuayi. The forwards club has hit back though and stated that no clause is in the contract.
More confusion on the transfer front then, well they are the latest rumours surrounding Arsenal today. Would you be happy with any of these players or would you prefer someone else?
