Arsenal youngster Daniel Crowley has unfortunately suffered another injury, this time to his ankle after appearing for the Gunners under-21’s on Wednesday night against Middlesbrough.
The 16-year-old has been described by several figures in the game as one of the brightest prospects to come through English academies in recent years and has been named ‘the next Jack Wilshere’.
The Arsenal midfielder and England international Wilshere is well aware of the youngster and tweeted him this evening asking about the injury.
He also tweeted last month: “Everybody follow @Danielcrowley24 trust me when I say this kid is a player! Big future….”
His recent performance in the FA Youth Cup against Peterborough has had people talking about the youngster in glowing terms. Arsenal ran out 6-1 winners and Crowley set up four goals and scored two.
The performance was described as a “stunning display of passing ability” and the match report in the Peterborough Today paper praised his display.
They said: “There is unlikely to be a better performance at London Road this season. Not from a team or an individual as an Arsenal side inspired by supremely gifted 16-year-old Daniel Crowy ran riot in the FA Youth Cup.”
Later in the article they added: “Crowley ran around like Jack Wilshere, but this youngster possessed an end product. By now even the Posh fans in an excellent crowd of just under 2,000 were enjoyed the Arsenal football.”
If that hasn’t convinced you about his talent then his meeting with England manager Roy Hodgson in November surely will hint at his obvious talent.
The Daily Mail reported that meeting at Arsenal training ground, where England were preparing at, and also said that boss Wenger shelled out nearly £1 million to get the talented midfielder from Aston Villa last summer.
Crowley suffered an injury earlier in the season and Arsenal fans will hope that this one isn’t anything serious. Wilshere has suffered his fair share on fitness problems and hopefully Crowley doesn’t follow a similar fate.
