Today saw more rumours with Arsenal and the possibility of signing a striker come to fruition.
Talk of French striker Paul-George Ntep arrival at the club picked up speed earlier this afternoon as it was claimed a deal of around £7 million had been reached over the signing and then loaning back of the player to Auxerre.
Nothing official was confirmed so it is yet to be seen how serious Arsenal’s interest is at this time. Auxerre is a club Arsene Wenger and his scouting team have been monitoring closely over the last couple of years resulting in the singing last summer of Yaya Sanogo.
In regards to this signing, it would be interesting if Wenger looked to sign another young striker playing in the second division of French football.
Ntep is highly regarded in France as a talent for the future, and has seven goals in seventeen appearances this season, but with Arsenal having a chance to go for Premier League glory it seems the fans are looking for somebody capable of hitting the ground running.
Morata Saga Continues
The on-going saga concerning the transfer of Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata has seemingly taken another twist today. Reports in Spain suggest that the highly rated Spanish forward would favour a move to Italy citing a more realistic chance of first team opportunities.
Morata has been way down in the pecking order at Madrid this season and with an impressive display in last summer’s European under 21 championship for Spain, had been looking to build on that and a move into the senior squad by now. It seems that interest from Inter and Fiorentina are being looked at as better options by the youngster.
It has been no secret that Arsene Wenger has been heavily interested in taking Morata on loan, even before the injury to Theo Walcott that has left Arsenal looking for more options up front. Issues surrounding the nature of the loan have seemed to halt the move as of yet, but this twist in the tale may leave Arsenal looking elsewhere or even internally for attacking options.
The Wait Goes On
Another week has gone by in the transfer window where Arsenal have seen title rivals Chelsea splash out more than £20 million on a midfielder and Arsenal fans will be wondering if business will be done.
Unsurprisingly, Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are keeping very quiet and cautious about their plans and once again it seems that if business will be done, it will be done late.
