Mirko Vučinić has been in the news a fair amount over the last few days, first he was linked with a move to Arsenal and then the big swap deal involving Fredy Guarín.
Vučinić was meant to be transferring to Inter Milan and Guarín moving to Juventus, but Internazionale moved the goal posts with the deal all but agreed.
This leaves Vučinić in limbo over his immediate future. Sky Italia have already reported that Juventus are happy to keep the Montenegrin unless they receive a good offer.
The Evening Standard waded into the topical debate this morning when they revealed that Arsenal have asked Juventus to keep them updated about Vučinić’s availability.
At the weekend it seemed that the decision was down Arsène Wenger about whether he signed the 30-year-old or not and Wenger position hasn’t actually moved as he still prefers a loan deal.
However now that this swap deal has fallen through, Juventus might be interested in a loan move and that would appear to suit Arsenal and Vučinić.
There is another player who might move to the Gunners but unfortunately it seems like a deal to be completed in the summer.
Fortunately though he is an exceptional footballer and German. I am of course talking about Julian Draxler.
John Cross, the Mirror’s a man with great Arsenal contacts, believes this could be the case. In his latest Football Spy Transfer Gossip video he said the “likelihood is very good for Julian Draxler coming to Arsenal it is just a question of when.”
“I still think it would be unlikely for Arsenal to pull off a deal like this in January. I think the likelihood is that he will come to Arsenal in the summer.
“I do actually think there is a great chance of this happening in the summer. He is a sought after player. He is an adaptable player.
“I think Arsenal see him as someone who can play down the flank, play through the middle and even be converted, as we said last week, as playing as a central striker.”
Certainly interesting comments and with that all in mind it seems Vučinić on a six-month loan and then Draxler in the summer would be a near perfect scenario.
Now we just have to wait and see what Juventus and Schalke say? I’m sure they are fine with it to… we hope!
