Another day and more transfer news involved Arsenal with players ruling out moves, last ditch bids about to occur and scouting mission being completed.
Firstly the Metro report that Arsenal target Jackson Martinez has signed a new deal with Porto, which puts an end to any transfer this window.
Reports were rife that Chelsea as well as Arsenal were interested in activating his £34 million release clause but Martinez’ agent has admitted he is on the verge of signing a new contract.
Luiz Manuel Manso said: “It is okay, I will travel to Porto next week to discuss the renewal. There is already an agreement to renew.”
Martinez though has already raised hope among Arsenal fans by admitting he was a Gunner as a kid and said: “If I get a chance to play for a high level club lik Arsenal I wouldn’t hesitate to accept it.”
So this is one transfer that won’t happen but according to the Metro Arsenal will try to bring Julian Draxler to the club now despite reports from various other sources which stated the youngster wouldn’t move until the summer.
The paper insist that Arsenal officials might throw Lukas Podolski into the deal to speed up negotiation which thus far have not been amicable. More talks are due to take place this weekend as the Gunners try to bring him in early.
Another rumour in the press this morning was that Arsenal scouts have been to France to watch Auxerre striker Paul-Georges Ntep, who impressed in their 3-2 Coupe de France win over Dijon.
Arsenal’s chief scout Gilles Grimandi was spotted in the stands and the Gunners have been linked with the 21-year-old for quite some while. Whether Arsenal make a move or not though is up for debate.
So several rumours to get your teeth stuck into, the Draxler story in particular should raise interest and also confusion as it comes just days after we had all prepared ourselves for his summer addition.
