Arsene Wenger is on the look out for a striker, that is if the Julian Draxler transfer to Arsenal can’t be completed before the window closes.
The Gunners have been pushing for the deal with Schalke for the 21-year-old for months now and Sky Sports sources understand Arsenal officials are in Germany to negotiate Draxler’s transfer.
Draxler talks ongoing
They believe that Arsenal are reluctant to pay more than £30 million for him, despite the German having a £37 million buy-out clause.
The Arsenal manager hinted as well that he would like to bring somebody in before the deadline on Friday when he spoke to reporters after the draw at Southampton, the Metro published his quotes.
Wenger said:
“I hope we’ve something to tell you [on signings by Friday].”
Morata or Tello?
John Cross of the Mirror believes if Arsenal can’t sign Draxler they’ll look into the possibility of bringing in either Alvaro Morata or Barcelona forward Cristian Tello.
Morata has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid numerous times in this window already, with Carlo Ancelotti happy to see him leave on a loan deal.
And now Arsenal may make a move for him with the Draxler negotiations ongoing but unsure as to whether they’ll agree an immediate deal.
Tello is also another forward linked with a loan move away from a big Spainish club however he has been urged to wait until the summer.
