Well respected BBC journalist David Ornstein has stated on his twitter page that Arsenal are not signing Julian Draxler because Arsene Wenger does not want to pay the reported £37 million transfer fee which Schalke demand.
Tweeted just over an hour ago Ornstein said:
“Arsenal not signing Draxler. Was interest but AW unwilling to meet Schalke asking price. Only #afc deal may be a loan arrival.”
Wenger doesn’t want to pay up
The reported fee has been £37 million, although Schalke chiefs did refute those claims early this evening.
Goal also speculated that we may not be able to agree a deal for Julian Draxler. They insist we are locked in negotiation but, like Ornstein, believe Wenger does not want to pay the asking price for the German.
If Arsenal are serious about winning the Premier League title they should be doing everything possible to bring in Draxler, one of the most talented young footballers in the world, to the Emirates.
We can’t afford to miss out
It simply doesn’t make any sense for us not to sign Draxler, considering a couple of issues.
1. This is our best chances in years and who knows may be our best chance for the next few years as well.
2. Theo Walcott is injured so a winger/forward is a must - which Draxler perfectly fits.
3. If we don’t buy him now and Draxler has a stunning World Cup who is to say that we’ll be able to afford him afterwards.
The last point could easily happen. Draxler is capable of having an amazing tournament and if he does, he’ll have all the best clubs in the world chasing him more vigorously.
Don’t let Draxler and the title slip out of our hands!
If that was to happen then we would miss out on an incredible talent because we don’t want to spend more money than initially believed, something which has come back to bite us before.
