The last 24 hours have been manic and you presume the next eight hours will be just as chaotic as this is when the German transfer window closes.

Julian Draxler’s transfer has been on and off more times than a light switch but a positive is that Arsenal do have staff on stand by in Germany incase a deal can be brokered between the two clubs.

Staff on the ready

This is according to the Daily Telegraph, who state that due to Arsenal having staff ready, Draxler will not need to travel to London to complete the move.

The suggestion is Arsène Wenger is reluctant to spend such a significant transfer fee on essentially an unproven youngsters but he has acknowledged that on deadline day a situation can change in an hour.

Fee payments the problem

Currently negotiation over the final transfer fee and how that is paid have been the problem. Arsenal and Schalke will hopefully come to some kind of compromise but the German side want a significant fee up front.

Whilst Arsenal are pushing for several instalments in the deal, which would hinge on Draxler’s success at the Emirates, Schalke aren’t keen and they alongside Arsenal admitted neither side is confident of a breakthrough.

Could it happen?

The only positives are that as Wenger said on transfer deadline day a situation can change every hour and several journalists, including Jeremy Wilson, also believe the situation could change.

The Mesut Özil transfer also suffered various complications but we got that deal through, fingers crossed the Draxler transfer goes the same way as Özil’s.
