Arsenal’s disappointing setback away at Stoke City has provoked many Gunner supporters to question Arsene Wenger’s lack of movement in the transfer window for a striker.

Olivier Giroud took much of the criticism as Jonathan Walter’s penalty was enough to give the Midlands side all 3 points at the Britannia, with the Frenchman’s brace against Sunderland being his only goals in the last 5.

The last striker that Wenger bought, Yaya Sanogo, was also on show briefly for Arsenal – and blazed the last chance over the bar from 8 yards.

The support was as vocal as ever:…

@Rosey_84 “#Arsenal simply need to go out and buy a World class striker -- money is there. Champs league should be there too. Cavani my choice.”

@dosinclair “A Team like @arsenal should always win a game with a world class striker when playing badly but we don't have that! #KeepTheFaith #COYG”

@originalricj “When will #Arsenal learn? We needed to reinforce the squad and buy players in the January transfer window eg a striker”

@JackLovett17 “Ohh Arsenal, don't you wish you bought a striker Wenger? #Afc”

@gunner4real “Striker like Giroud and Sanogo are not juz good enough for a team like Arsenal. Don't even know what he saw in Sanogo b4 signing him”

@estrellajoven “If Arsenal lose the title this season then its simply as arsene said his fault . This should have been ours by now if a striker was bought.”

@tomgunner14 “Arsenal should have signed a striker in January. Missing Walcott and Ramsey!"

@BPLnews365 “When Aguero joined City Silva became a better player, the same thing can happen to Özil if a world class striker joins Arsenal #COYG #AFC”

@AFCholic “New Arsenal drinking game for people looking to cut down their drinking: Take a shot every time you see Giroud facing the opposition goal.”

@KWAHME_FLEX “I dont know if Giroud can become a better player for Arsenal but honestly a part of me dies whenever i see him in our team.”

@icejayde “Giroud sanogo arteta are certainly not arsenal quality”
