Jack Wilshere has been ruled out for six weeks with a foot injury picked up in last night’s England game with Denmark. This was confirmed by a joint statement which was released by both Arsenal and the FA.
The statement read:
Following initial scans carried out by the FA on Wednesday night, further investigation by Arsenal’s medical team has discovered a crack to a small bone in Jack’s left foot - the navicular, an area of his foot which has not been previously injured.
Blow
This will come as a massive setback to everyone associated at Arsenal especially with the FA cup quarter final and the title race run in.
Wilshere will now miss the key games in the month of March which include the like of Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern.
What happens next
With Aaron Ramsey and Kim Kallstrom only just returning to fitness it means Arsene Wenger will have a selection dilemma.
Wenger can either go with the pivot of Arteta and Flamini or play Oxlade- Chamberlain with one of them.
This is a blow what Arsenal didn’t need but we must once again show depth and try and win something this season before it ends in a dismal way once again.
