Every team needs a presence, a talker and a commander, for Arsenal this is no different. Welcome Mathieu Flamini, often his works goes unnoticed but he’s been a revelation since returning to Arsenal and this week the spotlight has been shining on him.

Flamini spoke to Arsenal.com about this weekend’s quarter final against Everton and had the following to say;

“When you are a player, you wake up every day, train hard, and the objective is to win titles," he told the official matchday programme. "If not, there's no point going on the field if you don't want to win.”

"So in 2005 it was an important achievement, but I think it would be even more important now. The Club hasn't won anything for a while and everybody is expecting much more from us. So we will really go for it."

This is great to see as it shows how important this match is to him.

Arsene’s view

Wenger was quick to point out the influence Flamini has had by talking about him in his pre-match press conference.

"His workrate and his balance gives us better security. He does the work that people don't always see. It's not because people don't see it that it's not important.

"[He provides] that part of important work in the team that stabilises the team and gives them security to express."

Wenger also highlighted that Flamini is one of Arsenal’s most vocal players.

Overall, Flamini will be a key component in this team through March as his experience and leadership will be needed in the title run in as well as the FA cup.
