Leading up to today’s match there was much optimism that we may get to Wembley to compete in a semi-final and at the final whistle chants were ringing around the Emirates of  “Que Sara Sara whatever will be will be we’re going to Wembley”.

Arsenal won the match 4-1 but it wasn’t that easy a victory.

The Match

Arsenal took the lead in the 7th minute when Cazorla played Ӧzil in to slot home which was much needed just to give him some confidence back. However, in the 32nd minute Everton equalised through Lukaku. The match was evenly poised but a quick burst by Oxlade-Chamberlain made Barry commit a foul and win Arsenal a penalty.

Arteta scored the subsequent penalty but had to be re-taken due to Giroud stepping into the box. However, Arteta kept his cool to convert the spot kick.

With Everton now committing men forward it meant Arsenal could counter. The third goal came when Sagna got slipped in near the by line and waited until Giroud found space to neatly put the ball away.

The 4th came from a lovely counter with Cazorla spraying the ball out to the right to Rosicky, who played the pull behind the Everton defence to Ӧzil who cleverly squared the ball to Giroud to place it in the bottom left corner.

Key Players

Overall, Arsenal had good spells within the game and the return to form of Ӧzil is a welcomed boost and it is also important to note that Giroud now has 18 goals for the season as well as 7 assist which shows how important he is to this team.

Can Arsenal now end this barren spell?
