Following the Gunners successful passage into the Semi-Final of the FA Cup, their attention now turns back to the Champions League, where they will look to overturn a 2-0 deficit against the current holders of the trophy.

Arsenal may have gone to Munich last year and won 2-0, however, this Bayern side appears to be a step above the one that one the treble last year, so this will be no easy task for Wenger’s boys in Munich.

Team News

Arsenal will have Kieran Gibbs out missing for the trip to Munich after the English defender picked up an ankle injury in the game against Everton. Yaya Sanogo is also out injured with a foot injury from the weekend. However, Laurent Koscielny is fit again and ready to return to the starting line-up after recovering from a knock he picked up on international duty.

With Gibbs out injured there is a chance that Thomas Vermaelen could start at left back, with Nacho Monreal also out injured. Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott and Abou Diaby remain out for the long-term, while the match comes too soon for midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Kim Kallstrom.

Following his sending off in the first leg, Wojciech Szczesny is suspended and so Lukas Fabianski is set to continue in goal, following his appearance in the FA Cup against Everton.

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich racked up an impressive 16th straight league win at the weekend, putting 6 goals past Wolfsburg away from home, and so are evidently in form. Pep Guardiola’s side is looking to become the first side to retain the Champions league since its reincarnation from the European Cup, and with a 2-0 victory to protect and the knowledge that Arsenal performed very well in Munich last year, they will be going all out.

Guardiola has a fully fit squad to choose from, with Franck Ribery, who missed the first leg through injury, back fit again in the squad after successfully appearing in their demolition of Wolfsburg at the weekend.

Expected Line-up

Fabianski; Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vermaelan; Flamini, Arteta; Cazorla, Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Giroud

Arsenal need to go all out and give a high-energy performance in Munich, whilst also not allowing Bayern to score past them.
