After what can only be described as an abysmal week for Arsenal Football Club, the Gunners face title favourites Manchester City at the Emirates this Saturday.

After failing to grab three points against Swansea and being embarrassed at Stamford Bridge, the Gunners would certainly have hoped for an easier fixture.

After a season that promised so much, it looks as though Arsenal must focus once again on securing Champions League football.

With Everton only six points behind with a game in hand, the match against the Toffee’s a week Sunday is looking like a huge game.  Arsenals go into tomorrow’s game knowing that a win will make a huge difference in the race for Champions League football.

Team News

The team certainly has a long injury list at the moment.  At the back Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal are still out injured so our captain Vermaelen will remain in the side.

In the midfield were still without Wilshere, Walcott, Ozil and Ramsey.  It will be interesting to see whether Wenger will opt to play Arteta, Flamini or both of them.  Our safest defensive option, which we saw against Swansea, would be to play them both but Wenger didn’t opt for this formula against Chelsea.

Arteta has looked sluggish against the bigger sides this season so I would prefer to see Flamini play the holding role on his own.

Loanee Kim Kallstrom came on as a sub against Swansea and didn’t play badly so perhaps we shall see him do the same again.  Podolski made an instant impact against the Swans and I would love to see him start at the weekend.

Manchester City

Unfortunately for us, both David Silva and Sergio Aguero could return for City at the weekend.  Both players greatly improve the City team so many Gooners wouldn’t welcome seeing them back.

One bit of good news for Arsenal is that Nastasic remains sidelined so Demichelis will be at centre back with Kompany. So lets hope for something calamitous from him.

Even the most optimistic Arsenal fan might struggle to see use getting more than a point out of Saturday’s game but Man City haven’t had the best of times away from home this season.

With that in mind we should not give up on the team.  Undoubtedly Man City will be heavy favourites but we’ve definitely got a chance of getting something out of tomorrow evening’s game.

Expected Line-up

Szczesny, Gibbs, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Sagna, Flamini, Podolski, Rosicky, Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud
