Santi Cazorla spoke out to the press yesterday and it has automatically caused widespread gossip.
The Spanish playmaker was talking about Arsenal's title challenge and where he believed it ended:
"The defeat against Stoke finished us. You can't lose against Stoke if you aspire to be the next champion."
He has also spoken out about what he believes is the difference between Arsenal and winning clubs:
"But we have to improve at crucial moments and sign the best football players because if you don't do that, you may lag behind others.
That is what makes it different at other clubs. You've a good example in Manchester City, who signed Fernandiho, (Alvaro) Negredo... or even Manchester United with (Robin) Van Persie and (Juan) Mata."
His next destination
Santi also mentioned the fact that he could finish his career somewhere else other than Arsenal if they continue not to win anything:
"I don't want to close doors but nowadays I've a contract with Arsenal for two more seasons. When I'm turning 31 I'll evaluate myself and I'll choose the best option. In which case, I would be delighted to come back [to Spain]."
People may take everything the wrong way
Firstly the Arsenal player has not singled out anyone or excluded himself from the criticisms he has mentioned by using the collective 'we'. This could be seen that he sees himself as part of the team that are failing and therefore wants things to change with him there.
Regarding him discussing his future, he is talking about at the end of his contract, so in no way has he 'put himself on the transfer market' as he has been talking about moving in 2 years time when his contract runs out.
Don't knock him
You can't say Cazorla is wrong, everything he has said has been correct and exactly what we have said for the last couple of years, so take it positively. The players understand and have the same frustration as the fans, therefore get behind him instead of booing as you can imagine many people doing.
Every fan needs to get behind the club at this stressful time of the season, the higher we finish (4th over 5th) then there is a better chance of us having a more successful season next year with a bigger squad.
