Ivory Coast international Serge Aurier has revealed that he is interested in a move to Arsenal to replace the out of contract French right-back Bacary Sagna.

Ivorian Interest

The 21-year old defender has helped his Toulouse side to eighth place in Ligue 1 this season, alerting Arsène Wenger of his availability with his recent comments to the media.

Sources revealed that while the Gunners are set to open the bidding at approximately £7.5 million, Toulouse will hold out for a fee closer to £12 million.

Aura for Aurier

Aurier claimed that despite PSG and Monaco’s domination in France being appealing projects respectively, ‘you cannot turn down Arsenal. It is the English league that makes (him) dream.”

With Arsenal being vulnerable to ‘lower sides’ and being proud owners of the state of the art Emirates Stadium, the right-back went on to add that,

“It is a bit crazy, where smaller clubs can beat the big ones.”

“Everyone wants to play there because of the amazing atmosphere inside stadiums. Discovering this kind of league interests me in terms of sensations and emotions.”

Arsenal are in need of a new right-back after Bacary Sagna has made it clear that he will not renew his seven year trophy-less stay at the North London based club, while Wenger is not convinced that Carl Jenkinson is ready to start in his line-up.

The defensive unit at the Gunners has always had problems and although Sagna’s departure may disrupt its natural structure, Aurier’s potential makes him a typical Arsenal signing.

With Wenger’s track record in the form of players like Sagna himself, he may just be yet another blessing in disguise for the Red Army.
