Arsène Wenger has confirmed that prodigal Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has stepped up his rehabilitation to put himself in the frame to help the Gunners with their final games of the season.

Not giving in

Wilshere, who suffered a broken bone in his foot during England’s friendly with Denmark last month, is ahead of schedule and could be fit in time for Arsenal’s key clash at the KC Stadium against Hull in two weeks time.

Wenger revealed in his press conference that he refuses to put pressure on the midfielder, but that he is doing well in his fight for fitness.

“It's all going well, but he has not started to run.”

"I think that's planned next week so at the moment all is going well."

I’m the man

Wilshere confirmed the good news to his fans, tweeting a picture earlier today of him working hard at the gym.

The reports will come as a relief for all involved at the club, as Mikel Arteta’s poor form and the uncertainty of Kim Kallstrom’s ability cast a dark shadow over a once flourishing midfield three.

Treading on eggshells

However, with the World Cup in Brazil looming for Wilshere in the summer, the Arsenal hierarchy will be concerned that adding even more expectations on him is leading to unnecessary pressure on him for not only his club, but his country too.

Speaking about being labeled England’s golden boy and saviour, Wilshere claimed that,

“It’s brought pressure on me. I’m not sure it’s unwanted pressure.”

"I think when you play at the highest level, there is pressure all the time.”

Gunners go-to guy

Jack Wilshere’s pending return will excite all the fans, as the club faces the prospect of finishing out of the top four for the first time in Arsène Wenger’s reign.

While the Arsenal midfield has lacked composure in recent times, his comeback will be welcome by all to help them secure Champions League football and hopefully an FA Cup trophy to go with it.
