News has emerged within the last couple of hours that Sagna is to leave Arsenal at the end of his contract. This will not come as a surprise but will come as a blow. This is the first time Sagna has commented on his future to europe1.fr and said the following;

“I am out of contract , as everyone knows. I still consider myself as an Arsenal player at present. But actually we had a small problem to agree [a new deal], and I do not think stay I’ll stay at Arsenal at the end of the season.”

Sagna spoke about this season in the interview

“It is mixed, we started the season very well ” he said. “But we could have done better.”

“Injuries have hurt us , especially those of Ramsey, Walcott. At this level , there’s no forgiveness.”

No one can underestimate what an important player Sagna has been.  If the FA cup is to be his last game then let’s win the cup, as if any player deserves a medal then Sagna does. He has rejected the luxurious contracts from other big clubs to stay loyal to Arsenal. Sagna has given 7 years to this club and deserves respect.   I hope Arsenal fans show him the respect he deserves as he has been one of Arsenal’s best right backs.
