Now Arsenal have won the FA cup it is now time to focus our attention on this upcoming transfer window. This time the focus is on Cesc Fabregas which looks like there will be another transfer saga like last summer.

Fabregas is interesting Manchester United once again, however, it is public knowledge that Arsenal have clauses in the contract which saw Fabregas return to his boyhood club. Wenger spoke about this last summer and is quoted as saying “Fabregas has decided to stay one more year at Barcelona. Unless he has changed his mind. I don’t know. But that’s what I have been told. We have the clause in his contract so we would be on alert but at the moment that’s not something we are after.”

The buy- back clause is known to be around £25 million as well as having first refusal if Barcelona want to sell Cesc Fabregas however, this only gets activated once there is a bid. Other, clauses within the contract include Barcelona are required to give 50% of any profit they make on Fabregas to Arsenal.

The latest news regarding the Fabregas saga is that senior figures have told Wenger to bring Cesc back to Arsenal. This was reported by the Metro today. These reports have emanated from Spain which also suggest his coaching staff have asked Wenger to reconsider as at the moment he is not considering bring the former captain back.

“It’s thought that Wenger is not currently considering bringing Fabregas back to north London, but reports in Spain say pressure has been put on the Frenchman to reconsider.”

“According to several sources, club officials along with members of Wenger’s own coaching staff have told him to give serious thought to re-signing Fabregas.”

This was reconfirmed by an article on Bleacher report where Spanish football expert Guillem Ballague said “Arsène Wenger has been recommended to bring him back by his assistants so it is up to the French manager to put an offer for Cesc.”

Fabregas is well known to still have a strong affection for Arsenal football club and keeps in regular contact with Wenger. A couple of years ago Sky Sports ran a documentary on Cesc Fabregas and told them that he would only consider joining Arsenal if he was to leave Barcelona which makes this transfer story interesting.

"Apart from Arsenal and Barcelona, I don't see myself playing anywhere else," he said. "I will definitely be going back (to Arsenal) whenever I have time to watch games and to see the guys, and you never know in the future, why not?"

This transfer story will run and run and will be an intriguing story to follow. However, let’s hope Arsenal will re-sign there former captain as it will add more strength and quality to Arsenal for a relatively cheap price in an inflated market.
