French international striker Loic Remy has been subject to an enquiry from the Gunners ahead of the much-anticipated opening of the summer transfer window.

The 27 year-old forward, owned by QPR and having spent last season on loan to Newcastle, has been linked with the Gunners for years.

But it was his appearance at the Emirates Stadium in May that indicated that he would be interested in signing for the North London outfit.

Top four fight out

Sky Sport sources revealed today that they understand Remy is courted by Premier League rivals Liverpool, who will be looking to go one better in their domestic campaign next season.

The striker is 4/6 to sign with Arsenal by the end of the transfer window, QPR manager Harry Redknapp admitting earlier this month that, "I think he must have a buyout clause. I would imagine he has a buyout clause but I don't know how much."

Reliable Remy

This will be of much encouragement to the Arsenal board and Wenger, who will be looking to make the most of the reported £100 million available to improve on the FA Cup champion’s squad for next season.

Remy’s 14 goals in 27 appearances last season will be of interest to the Gunners, their midfield service providing the creativity in which the exciting Frenchman can capitalise on, if he were to sign for the Red Army.

French Connection

In typical Arsène Wenger style, the manager was reserved on giving his opinion regarding signing the striker as far back as April, sniping at the time that, "He is a good striker. But we are focused on the end of the season, not on strikers."

When spotted at the home of Arsenal earlier in the month, Wenger could only joke that, I hope he paid for his ticket! I did not invite him.”

The first of many

It has long been claimed that Loic Remy is an Arsenal fan and with his compatriot the legendary manager and coach, he may decided to cross London to become part of a new era at the club.

Nicolas Bendtner and Park Chu-Young will find themselves looking for a new club in the coming months, while there are doubts over the ability of Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo to lead the line in the immediate future.

Remy would be an exciting, Premier League experienced and economical signing that can only benefit the Arsenal squad. However, more signings need to be made if the club are to compete home and abroad during the 14/15 season.
