Arsenal are already preparing targets for next seasons Premier League and Arsène Wenger is looking to beat rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of one of the success stories of the 2013/14 campaign.
Cardiff City stopper David Marshall was a revelation last season and excelled despite the Welsh club suffering relegation in their first season in the Premier League.
The 29-year-old has been linked with both Arsenal and Spurs and the Daily Telegraph report that the Gunners could pinch the goalkeeper from under the noises of their rivals.
Added competition for places
Marshall is valued at £15 million by Cardiff and with FA Cup hero Łukasz Fabiański set to leave the Emirates, Marshall could be the man to fill his void and put pressure on current number one Wojciech Szczęsny.
Tottenham have shown interest in Marshall, who only signed a new contract with Cardiff in February, but Arsenal feel they can get the goalkeeper and Wenger is hopeful he can reach a compromise with Cardiff over the transfer fee.
Loic Remy linked
The Telegraph insists Wenger is after a forward, midfielder and defender as well and the Daily Mail believe Loic Remy is an Arsenal target once again.
Harry Redknapp has reportedly revealed that Remy is available for around £8 million and that has seen Arsenal and Liverpool start monitoring the situation surrounding the French forward.
The Mail quoted Redknapp as saying: “I don’t see Remy wanting to come back and play. He’s talking about playing Champions League somewhere.
“I wouldn’t know what he’ll do, but I think he’s got a buy-out clause which is at a reasonable level. Not much more than we paid for him.”
With that in mind it seems almost certain that Remy will depart Queens Park Rangers this summer and it would come as no surprise if the Emirates were his next destination.
Contract situation opens up possible move
Another man linked with a move to Arsenal is Swansea City captain Ashley Williams. The club have been long term admires of the Welshman and the Metro feel the defender is now ready to move to another team.
Arsenal bid for Williams last summer but it was rejected, and though Swansea have offered their club captain a new contract; the 29-year-old has turned down their offer.
Williams has just 12 months left on his current deal and Wenger may now bid £3 million to try and secure the signature of the experienced defender. The stance by Williams leaves Swansea in a difficult position and they may be forced to accept a bid from Arsenal should one be forthcoming.
