Real Sociedad forward Carlos Vela has seemingly rejected claims that he will move back to Arsenal by admitting he never felt comfortable in London.

Various reports over the past few days have suggested that Arsène Wenger will try to bring the Mexican back to the Emirates.

The Daily Star reported a story ran by Spanish newspaper Marca which insisted Wenger was desperate to bring the 25-year-old back to his former club.

Vela better prepared but is he willing to move?

Marca believe there is a £3.3 million buy-back clause in Vela’s contract and the player himself had initially opened the door to a move.

Vela said: "Arsenal can come back for me at £3.3m at any time, which is more than Real Sociedad paid.

I look at things differently these days and I won’t close the door on Arsenal, or any team in England. I think I’m better prepared to play in another country now."

However, it seems like the striker has been quick to refute claims he will move back to Arsenal by revealing that he has a found a home at Sociedad.

Mexican happy at Sociedad

Inside Spanish Football quoted Vela after he spoke to BeIN Sport, he explained his love for his current club: “The majority of the players are from the youth system and this has turned the dressing room into something more familiar.

“The atmosphere is great to the point where after training; we make plans with each other. We’re always trying to make the teammate next to you, better and you can see this in every game.

“I never felt comfortable in London and I never enjoyed it. However, when I got to Donostia (San Sebastian) I found a place where I was very happy, where I’m enjoying myself every day.

“The English game is very straightforward. Here, the difference is that there are more touches of the ball and the benefits me. I don’t consider myself passionate about football.  I like playing and I want to keep improving every day.  After that, I’ll welcome whatever comes.”

Judging by these recent comments it would seem that Vela is perfectly happy with Real Sociedad and has no interest in coming back to Arsenal. That would appear to be a blow for Wenger and the club as the Mexican has been a revelation in recent campaigns.

Whilst Vela has said he won’t close the door on Arsenal, he seems more content with his current club and enjoying his football there, rather than challenging for honours in different countries or testing himself. That, for Arsenal, is a massive shame.
