There appears to be some conflicting news surrounding Ivory Coast defender Serge Aurier, who at the end of the season was expected to move to the Emirates.

The Toulouse defender has enjoyed a stellar campaign in France and was expected to be a replacement for Bacary Sagna, who incidentally is set to join Manchester City.

Sagna to City

Sagna’s agent spoke about interest from Inter Milan and Galatasaray before revealing that the French defender will join Man City.

His agent Laurent Gutsmuth said: “It’s true that we were contacted, but for information only. We never spoke about figures. He should be signing for Manchester City.”

So, with Sagna moving on Aurier was suppose to be his replacement but according to respected Arsenal tweeter @fkhanage Arsenal are not going in for the 21-year-old.

The Metro reported the news and reiterated the latest on Cesc Fàbregas as we reported this morning that he definitely won’t be moving to the Emirates.

No move for Sagna’s replacement?

Although many fans had got the impression lately that Fàbregas wouldn’t be coming home, Aurier’s sudden development will come as a surprise.

It was just a couple of days ago the Daily Mail reported that Aurier had told an Arsenal fan he was moving to the club. The Gunners supporter videoed himself and the 21-year-old before posting the video on YouTube and twitter.

Incidentally, the Toulouse full back retweeted the tweet which said: ‘Serge Aurier tells an Arsenal fan that he is joining Arsenal.’ That retweet, seemed, to all but confirm that the youngster would move to England.

And also in May, Aurier spoke to Eurosport France about Arsenal and how it was a great club with history. However, despite the hints and apparently willingness to move to the Emirates the move, all of a sudden, doesn’t seem to be happening.

I suspect this isn’t the last we have heard of Aurier and we will wait with suspense to see if there is any developments regarding this young talented Ivorian.
