Colombian striker Jackson Martinez is set for a move away from Porto this summer with a whole host of clubs wanting the 27 year olds signature.

Peppino Tirri was reported saying:

“We’ve got meetings set up with numerous European clubs, as he is of interest to Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Arsenal and Valencia, but also important Italian sides."

However, it is rumoured that Roma are leading the race for the forward as they are scheduled to have talks with Jackson's agent soon, although many other top clubs are interested.

Battle of the English clubs

Both United and Arsenal supposedly want the signature of the Columbian and it seems out of the English clubs Arsenal would land the player as he has spoken of his admiration for the Gunners before:

"I cheered for Arsenal when I was a kid - I love their style of play. It's flowing and open with a lot of first touch passes. It would be suitable for a player like me. If I get a chance to play for a high level club like Arsenal I wouldn't hesitate to accept it."

Same old Arsenal just a different year?

Don't get too excited yet, if the striker has a successful World Cup then his price will most probably rise from £30 million to potentially £35, and we have a past of not paying 'too much' for a player.

However it could be different as we have been promised a good summer by the board, so you never know, we could see Martinez in Arsenal red by September.
